About Savannah Cats
The Savannah cat breed has only been around since the late 1980's when Joyce Stroufe began breeding them. She registered the first litters in 1994 and is well-known among cat breeders as the original founder of the savannah cat breed. Savannah cats are known for being slender and tall with long legs and large ears. These features are less prominent with each generation bred down from the original serval cat. Their fur is typically short to medium length and is usually coarser than the fur of a regular domestic cat.
Savannah cats usually have a base or "background" coat color of golden, silver, or black with beautifully contrasted spots. Their tails are typically thick and ringed. The size of a Savannah ca depends on the size and generation of the parent cats and the percentage of serval blood they have.
